My modded out Hondo Warlock

My first guitar was a Hondo, if you could even call it a guitar. I was on Ebay and I decided to screw around and look up Hondo's. I found this Warlock, I didn't even know they ever made a Warlock copy. I've always liked Warlocks and the color matched my car. So I figured what the hell. I won it, less than $200.00.

I was worried it would have a baseball bat neck, to my surprise the neck is the same contour of an old Charvel. Not too bad. The color was cool and aside from rusted strings, a destroyed nut, it looked to be in good shape. The biggest Strat style bridge I have ever seen, it's massive and the Grover tuners are a nice touch.

The rear pickup was dead so I replaced it with a BL 500xl. I decided to mod the hell out of it so I probably couldn't sell it if I tried.

So, inspired by a YJM Strat I played on at GC for two hours I decided to scallop it, go with 6100's and add a brass nut. The bridge was in the wrong place from the factory so that had to be moved back.

Now, it shreds pretty well. Considering it's a ply body, heavy as hell, downtuned to drop C it chugs like a monster. It was my main guitar until my RG's. I still play it but I have to admit 24 3/4 scale isn't my top choice.

Re: My modded out Hondo Warlock

Very cool! I had a couple of Hondo's way back when I first started playing. Totally 80's. Thanks for sharing.

Re: My modded out Hondo Warlock

N/P dude.

It actually plays well and sounds good. I can only tune to drop C given the lower scale. I have to move up to .13's to go to drop B I'm thinking. I'll always have this guitar and it will be played.
