My new RG7 Premium (lots of pics and a video)

I sold a few guitars recently and managed to score some new gear from the proceeds (plus a little on my end). I picked up an Engl Powerball and the new RG827QMZ-TR.

Great guitar for its money. It's definitely close to Prestige standards, judging from the two I own and several I've played. I didn't mind the stock bridge pickup, but the neck really wasn't very nice at all. I've taken them out and replaced both anyhow. Put in my favourite combo (DS7 and AN7) in zebra, so I should update the pics I guess.

Anyhow, on with the pics and video:

Thanks guys. Yeah, the Engl is bloody deadly. I wasn't liking it at first, but I'm coming around to it a bit more. Brutal amp.

I'll grab some soon, man. It's not the greatest or most unusual collection in the world, but I'm certainly happy with it. 7620, 1527, 827 and 2027 is where it currently stands.

Awesome work Lee. Anybody that says these Premiums don't measure up.....well......just haven't played them enough.

Re: My new RG7 Premium (lots of pics and a video)

Thanks, man. And agreed 100% based on the one I have. It really stacks up against my Prestiges just fine. I actually preferred the bridge pickup on this to the stock 1527 or 7620 bridge pickups (I got my 2027 with DiMarzio pickups, so couldn't vouch for the stocks from those), so it has that over them.

My only complaint with this guitar is the trem. I love the zero point system for stability, but it feels too stiff. I've removed it now, and the trem functions very well, but I just love Lo Pro. This trem lacks the sheer mass of the Lo Pro.

Otherwise, I couldn't be happier with it. Great craftsmanship.

I think it takes a while to get used to any new trem.........it took me a LONG time to adjust to an edge-pro. After a few weeks it felt pretty natural. Give the EZ2 a few weeks, then let us know what you think. It's obviously not an OE or LP, but the people I've talked to that have owned one for a year or so really enjoy playing them. I still hear a lot of good about their stability too..............
