My two new babies from Ibanez (pic)

Picked these up last week. The RGA121 was used, but I really don't think it was played much. Perfect condition...no playing marks, etc. The other is the ARC300. What a great guitar. I can't believe these aren't more popular. Better quality than any Epiphone I've looked at and a lot of Gibsons as well. I have a Duncan JB/Jazz combo on order for it.

Nice pair! I gotta admit. I didn't like the looks of the 121 at first, but it's really growing on me.

I have been looking closely at the ARC300 recently, as a good LP substitute. Glad to hear you like it, as I havent heard any other opinions on them at all yet. With Duncans in it I am sure it will scream!

I believe all ArtCores are made in China. They're really great guitars, especially for the money.

Re: My two new babies from Ibanez (pic)

Yeah, China. I think that's the reason the price is pretty reasonable for what you get. I've looked mine over head to toe and it's immaculate. The fit and finish is fantastic. The tailpiece and bridge are great. The fine tuners are a really nice touch. The maple top is even nicer in person. The only issue I've had so far is a bit of binding at the nut with the G string. But hey, it's only 1 week old.

The only thing I don't like, and this is far from the only guitar designed this way, is that the volume pots are located in the same order as the pickups, so the bridge pot is right in the middle. I'd much rather have it be the first pot as the bridge pickup sees a lot more action. Personally, I could get buy with a single volume control and no tone pot. The Paul Gilbert model is the perfect layout if you ask me.

The RGA case is really nice. I hadn't seen it pryor to getting the guitar. When I opened it up, I was really surprised at how nicely it cradles the guitar. My Washburn N4 case is actually really similar, but much smaller.

Re: My two new babies from Ibanez (pic)

I love the body shape of the art core but the head stock looks ugly
why don't they just stick to the standard AR/AX head stock?
and yes, the 121 is awesome like every one else.

Re: My two new babies from Ibanez (pic)

I like that ARC headstock - kinda sorta like my SC620 a little bit.

I hate Pauls. But I figure I'll get a knockoff one day just BECAUSE. You never know when you want to do one authentic sounding southern rock or Vandenberg tune. I WAS thinking Epiphone, but this looks better.

Still, I gotta get my hollowbody first. And a dobro. And banjo. And maybe another bass...
