Mystery Ibanez

I picked up the following guitar a while back from eBay. It was pretty cheap and was advertised as a RG prototype.

The Neck has RG320 FA, plus serial number C011 120779 and it was Made in Korea. Original Floyd Rose. The previous owner has replaced the tone/volume knobs as you can see.

When I got it, it had a couple of Zebra pick ups, which I have since upgraded to Dimarzio Crunch and Liquifury.

The truss rod cover has the following engraved text "Shinten Purototaipu", which I thought was odd. The front of the guitar body is reasonably finished (as you can see), but the back is pretty rough, like its an unfinished project

Is it just a straight RG320 that's had some customisation or is there more to it. Anyone any thoughts?

Re: Mystery Ibanez

I googled Shinten Purototaipu and the Purototaipu seems to stand for prototype. Shinten could be one of several things though.

Re: Mystery Ibanez

Shinten appears to be something to do with the sacred texts of the Shintō religion of Japan... which doesn't make much sense.

Maybe its the name of the guy that made the prototype

Re: Mystery Ibanez

my initial thoughts - bigger picture please...

I really like the look of it from what I can see...how does it play and sound? ...at the end of the day that's all that really matters - unless you are thinking about it's 'collectability' and re-sale value...

Re: Mystery Ibanez

Sorry about the picture size, I've been struggling with the forum upload limits, kept telling me the file was too big (k) or to big (mm).. which is annoying. I'll try a different format when I get a chance.

It plays really well, the neck is the usual Ibanez dream. The original zebra pups where not great, but the Petrucci DiMarzios are lovely, especially the Liqufury.

I'm not really that bother about collectability, just nice to know a little more about it as its a little unusual

You can upload your pics to an online host (I use imageshack-it's user friendly and FREE)
After uploading you can copy and paste their URL here in their full size.

I'd love to see more pics as well........
