NBD 1992 SR1500 NT (Japan)

Hi... Just another good find, its an all original Ibanez SR1500 NT from the Japanese market, itīs from 1992 but only appears in the 1993 catalog. Maple body, wenge/bubinga 5pc neck with ebony fingerboard, IBZ/USA C2 active pickups, Accu-Cast BIV bridge and itīs a beast. So, what do you guys think about this one? Click on the photo to see the rest. Cheers

Very cool bass! I have a '93 SR2000 myself. Been on the lookout for a 2005 forever!

I find that I almost always tune by bass to drop D. I feel like a 5-string could be more versatile. Love the natural finish on yours. Makes me wish mine had that finish!

I still play my old Peavey T40 every now and then... solid ash and HEAVY! Every time I get it out and play it I look in the local ads for a good deal on a better bass... but can't seem to find a good bass for cheap. Someday!!

Considering a 5 string too... or maybe getting a set of "Drop Zone" strings and trying B-E-A-D tuning. Don't really want to file the nut on my old bass though, I've had it for 31 years!

Very nice!

I've been looking for a cheap used bass that isn't some cheap no name Chinese made bass. Not much luck here though. Considering an LTD B-10 that's pretty cheap new here.

Yes, the SR2005

There are a lot of inexpensive old MIJ Ibanez Soundgear basses for sale in the US. I don't think 4-strings are that popular any more and also, those old SR800's are basswood, which I most people don't want.

The thing that drew me to the SR2000 is that other than the pickups, it's the exact same spec as an old Spector bass (all maple, neck-thru).

Yeah, I know, and lots of old school rg's in US. I wish my country wouldn't charge almost 35% of the price in custom fees That Spector must be heavy as ....

Re: NBD 1992 SR1500 NT (Japan)

Surprisingly the SR2000 isn't as heavy as you'd think. The Soundgear is a fairly small body. Mine weighs 4295g compared to 4075g for my heaviest RG (2004 RG2120X). That's 9 lb, 7 oz and 9 lb even for US readers

I think my old solid maple George Lynch M-1 Tiger was a little bit heavier than the SR2000. If you want some serious weight, my double neck Saber tips the scales at 5710g (12 lb, 9 oz)!

The Spectors were great basses... but my old ash T40 weighs 13lbs (5896g). I have to use a big wide lather strap for it! Been eyeing the Mikro 5 strings, but I'd like to try one before buying. Certainly cheap though.

Re: NBD 1992 SR1500 NT (Japan)

I have an EMG PJ set waiting to go in my SR2000. At that point it will basically be an Ibanez version of a Spector.
