Neck pocket cracks =\

Well today was a great day as i got my first ibanez ....... But it has a rather juicy crack in the neck pocket:


(sorry for the rubbish quality pics, but you can just about make out the crack)

Anyway it plays great an stuff so is this anything to worry about?

Neck pocket cracks are the norm on older Ibanez heel joints. Normally you have nothing to worry about, although that one looks like it could be pretty nasty. The pic is pretty bad though.

yea the pic aint great, the cracks about 3.6cm's also the neck sort of creeks when you use the trem, is this anything to do with the crack or just normal?

oh if it helps there is only a crack on that side the other side is fine with just a tiny crack a few mm long

Have you tightend the joint screws? (not too tight though)

Try that and see if it still creaks.

dude.. if it creaks when you use the trem.... the wood is broken....and needs tp be fixed....just judging from the size of the crack...

unscrew the neck, and look at the pocket.... tightening the neck joint screws wont tell you if the wood pocket is brocken...

Every Ibanez I own has one whether it's small or large, it seems to be normal. Congrats on your Xmas gift, that is cool.

Ok thanks everyone i tightened the bolts seems to have sorted out the creeking for now anyways ive decided to just enjoy it and not let it hassle me to much anyways ill try get some pics up for y'all (hopefully better quality) oh an its sunburst not hot pink
