Neck Profile Minutiae

In the last few years, I've spent a lot less time studying catalogs and a lot more time actually making music. However, I recently began looking at new guitars and found Ibanez using a ton of different language for neck profiles.

There used to be:

Wizard - very flat radius, very flat thin profile
Wizard II - rounder radius, thicker profile
JEM - very flat radius, rounder profile
Ultra - very flat radius, thicker profile, thinner width

Now, I see Ibanez using Prestige Wizard, Super Wizard, and Ultra to describe neck profiles on Prestige RGs.

My best guess is that the "Super Wizard" is nothing more than an AANJ 5-piece version of the original Wizard profile. "Prestige Wizard" seems to be a slightly thicker AANJ version. And Ultra seems rather unchanged. Is this correct?

Re: Neck Profile Minutiae

Is the Ultra really a "very flat radius" ?

I was under the impression that the neck my Ibanez Radius had was the Ultra neck, and it definitely is not flat compared to other ibanez guitars I've played. It's a thin neck but not flat.

The 2010 catalogue actually has cross sections of the current profiles in it, have a look.

The new ultra is much more C shape, and compound radius on the back, it does not designate anything about the fret radius though.

Re: Neck Profile Minutiae

weird that from now on, the Super Wizard is thinner than the Wizard. and the Ultra is more "V" shaped but has the same thickness of the Wizard. oh, and they are called Super Wizard HP, Wizard HP and Ultra HP. Hewlett-Packard contoured necks?
