Neck on RG470

I bought a RG470 so I could swap out the neck with my 7dbk while it goes to Jeremy. One thing that I found is the neck is marked 550 at the heel, just like my wizard on my 570. Is 550 a generic marking for the ibanez necks that are made in Japan with the only difference being the profile?

[EDIT - deleted misinformation]

It's possible that it's a generic marking, but not likely. Did you buy your 470 used? It's entirely possible that someone replaced the WizII neck on your 470 with a Wiz neck off a 550 or 570.

Nope - I bought the 470 brand new - it has a 2001 sn on the back of the headstock, has the Wizard 2 profile and no stripe. I just found it weird cause my 570 also had a 550 marking on the neck.

Well, the 550 marking on the back of a 570 neck is not unusual at all, all 5xx series guitars use the same neck, generally the "550" is followed by an "M" or an "R" designating the fretboard material.

As for your guitar, I suggest it's a neck that was replaced at the factory with a pre-bubinga 570 neck. Although that doesn't explain the profile...

the neck of my 2002' RG550ex is "super wizard"

Let me clarify: All standard 550s and 570s share the same neck in standard form. The deluxe series (DX, and rarely EX) and limiteds (LTD) will have different markings on the necks. In the pre-AANJ days, this applied to RG560s as well.

i have rg470FMR [flamed maple]
and there is serial number on the neck, C5122569 [does it mean KOREA? 'cause on my RG505 serial begins with "F" and there is "made in Japan" sign]
There is also "rg470fmr" above serial number.
RG505 doesn't have "rg505" mark on the neck

is rg470 KOREAN ?

The RG4xxx has been made in Japan since 1996/1997. Before that they were made in Korea. (This includes 7-string models like the 7420/1)

What is so bad about Korean production?

Is it clever to put lo-pro in my rg470[flamed maple], or simply buy new guitar. Bad thing about that is that i'm simply fall in love because of red flamed maple finish and gold hardware, and I can't afford for some prestige or signatire models.

I Have Steve's Special and Air Norton in it, but I wonder will it sound better on some Japanian RG e.g 550 with the same Pickups?
