neck twisting and what to do??

hey guys i have a 90s rg the neck doesn't seem that bad but i always tend to get a bit more releif on the treble side being 20 years old is it pretty well settled or what preventetive measures or repairs can be done ie. slackening strings on treble side a little when not in use. the guitar still plays quite well, (infact the best playing guitar i own for comfort)

Re: neck twisting and what to do??

I believe the only thing to do is plane the fretboard straight. That involves pulling the frets and planning it to remove the twist, then refretting it, plus fret leveling/dressing. It should cost around $200 for a qualified guitar tech to do it properly.

Re: neck twisting and what to do??

I had the exact same issue with my RG neck. it was pretty drastic as I could see it very well. I tried to sand the finger board with a oversized radius block but realized it was not working. I decided I will have to remove finger board and order a replacment then I will set it up on a mill make sure it is flat/level then mill it so that the highest side matches the lowest spot. The highest is the first fret low E string and of course the lowest in the 24th fret High E. I will post pics and process taken once I start in case anyone else wants to attempt same thing.

Re: neck twisting and what to do??

.004 difference?. Is that a measurement from the strings?? how did you get the measurement?
.004 doesn't seem like much at all.
