Necks on the maple 8570m

I am still searching for a j.custom with maple fretboard. Those new ones with golden hardware and especially big plexiglass pieces on the nice wood I don't like in neither color. So I look for those in transit blue which they did (around 2000 I think)

If I should suddenly get a chance to get one I want to be prepared. I am especially interested interested neck dimensions of that guitars. I own 3 just. customs from 2011, 2012 and 2014 and one from 2003 and there is a considerable difference. The newer ones all have much thinner necks than the 2003 guitar. The 2003 even feels little thicker then my 7vwh.

Is anyone here who owns one of those rg8570m with maple fretboard and has a newer one as well so he could give me an idea about this neck in compare?

I have an '04 8570M and an '11 8420. The neck is definitely thinner on the 8420, and maybe a touch wider. You can find all the specs regarding the necks here:

Those old JCs from the early 2000's had JC-specific neck profiles, and they're awesome. I think it was more about that profile than the measurements that made them unique. Like the Prestiges, the JC necks began to be flatter and wider around 2005-06 I believe... Much like the super wizard prestige profile.

Re: Necks on the maple 8570m

I have an '03 RG8670 and the neck is in fact very thin, as thin as a current Super Wizard HP. But the profile was totally different and the neck feels much beefier in the hand.

But there were some guitars from around that time which did have relatively thick neck. The RG8520 is an example.
