Need advise on 1/2 scale kids guitar

So my 4y/o daughter keeps asking me when I'm going to get her a guitar (a pink one) so she can play too... I know she's only 4 and it's likely that she'll be excited for about 15min and then never play again but even the slightest chance that she'd pick it up that young is worth the price of a kids guitar. The problem is that she's only 4 and on the small side even for a 4y/o so I think I'm limited to 1/2 scale guitars which seem to be hard to find and even harder to find in pink.

Anyone have any experience with 1/2 scale electrics and can recommend one? I'm only worried about playability since the sound of it won't matter at this stage. Although I need a pink guitar, I've been wanting to practice refinishing anyway so worst case I can strip/repaint something.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

My son is about to turn 4 and he desperately wants a Strat. I'm going to get him one of the Squier Minis when he's big enough. He has a few ukuleles he bashes around though.

I think refinishing is the way to go. You should consider the mini Les Paul (the LP PeeWee) by Epiphone. http://epiphone.com/default.asp?Prod...CollectionID=7 The size is very kid-friendly.

You can buy pink ukeleles as a flying V. I got my son one when he was 2 or 3.

He has a Squier mini now that he doesn't play either!

Re: Need advise on 1/2 scale kids guitar

Petie: I'm sooooo tempted to get something like the mini LP and refinish it...

Agent540: That B.C. Rich looks like the perfect size but I doubt my wife would approve for a 4y/o girl

rob777vdy: Thanks anyway would probably be a little big still. My daughter is on the small side for 4 as well (which is making this more tricky)

nickcoumbe: I don't know why I didn't consider this before. A quick search found the Flying V Ukulele on amazon for only $42! I'm now seriously considering this.

Shockme.au: That has to be the coolest kid guitar ever!!! Maybe I could pass the inlays off as a "Pirate Themed" guitar to my wife.......

I found a music place locally that does a 30min music exploration class for kids 1-7 years old that has an assortment of instruments from Ukuleles, mini-guitars of various sizes, drums, keys, and a small vocal studio. My wife and I are going to take both of our girls (we also have a 2y/o) to see what they like.

Thanks for the great suggestions! I'm definitely going in the right direction now.
