Need help on buying a new guitar!

I was browsing in the internet to see which guitar to buy, i have been playing for about 2 or 3 years. So i thought i could buy the JS1200 or the JEM7WVH but i realised i probably shuold get mroe practice and then buy it (besides, they are very expensive). So i want an RG, but i don't know which one (what about the RG1570?). I play mostly rock, like metallica, satriani, vai, sabbath, osbourne, AC-DC, Aerosmith, Pantera, etc.

Re: Need help on buying a new guitar!

RG1570 is a good choice. Anything from RG5XX upward is a good choice. It would be hard to combine all those tones in one guitar, given that Metallica use EMG pups on whatever guitars, Satch and Vai use different woods or pickups, Iommi uses Gibsons, Zakk has mahogany bodies and EMGs also on Gibby's, etc etc.

But, for the money, the RGs are good. You may even try looking for two for the price of one brand new one. RG520QS (mahogany) and an RG550/570 (basswood) and work from there. There are so many on **** that you'll be able to choose from.

Then, you'll have to go for an amp, effects unit(s), stuff to complete the weapons rack...

Good luck on your choice mate.

$800? You can get a used JEM7D or JS at that price.

I agree, the 5xx series seem pretty good for the price. But if it was me, I'd go for the Prestige axes. But at $800 you can also get a nice used USRG or 7xx. But whatever floats your boat.

He was looking at a JS1200 or a VWH, which don't yet come at 800 dollars.

Re: Need help on buying a new guitar!

I think if you want the JS or JEM, then save a bit more and get one. It isn't like you have to be able to shred to justify having one.

But I will also suggest a 1570. I own a lefty one and it's great. Although I have an Evolution bridge and plan on gettin rid of the other two soon aswell.

At my age (15) its very difficult to save money besides a JEM is around $1500 minimum, i just think that its at that price because its just a "signature" guitar. There are probably better guitars our there for a cheaper price.
Oh and how is the RG350EX?

Re: Need help on buying a new guitar!

Get a used RG 5XX or 7XX, then you have some spare cash for effects etc.

Re: Need help on buying a new guitar!

Yeah get an RG550 or a 770, put in better pickups. Plus, the 5xx and 7xx use Edge's (or Lo Pro sometimes) which is far superior to the Edge Pro's on new Ibanez.

Re: Need help on buying a new guitar!

2550 is overpriced and has a crappy trem. Get a 550 and put in new p/ups, although, the V7 and V8 aren't bad stock p/ups.

EDIT: And spend the rest of the money on a professional setup and maybe some effects.
