Need help with colors for this swirled stat

I'm trying to figure out what color pickguard and pickups would work with this swirl. The colors are just all over the place.

Originally this was a bright burnt orange and I have a mint pickguard with green pickups that looked sweet together, at least to me

Those colors just don't work for me now though. I'm leaning towards a black pickguard and black pickups now. I have a chrome Floyd patented bridge/nut also...

Any suggestions?

Hmmm never even thought of wood for a pickguard I'll check some out Thanks!

I forgot to mention I also have a 22 fret maple neck/maple fretboard too. I have the 19th to the 22nd scalloped and plan on going to the 12th with that.

Here's a pic with the mint pickguard and some cheap green Dragonfire pups. It just doesn't fit as well as straight black would or maybe mint w/ black pups?

Not half bad. Yellow or orange p,ups might be cool. Since you have a pale neck how about a figured maple guard with a orange tinted finish?

Re: Need help with colors for this swirled stat

I think orange pups might look good with the mint guard. I looked into some wood pickguards and I don't think they would really fit the swirl. But I do like them a lot for a solid color especially black.

I did a rough paint mock up with a tortoise and I don't hate it. Looks much better than I expected really...

Re: Need help with colors for this swirled stat

Yeah I think gold would look sweet too, I already have the chrome tuners, bridge and input jack...I could just use that stuff on another project and do gold though...

Right now I'm definitely using a black pickguard, but I'm undecided on black or yellow pups. I definitely have more options for humbuckers in black.

Now that I think about it this would be my first strat with a humbucker. I am fairly certain this is an alder body, the grain matched up anyway... any suggestions for a humbucker that sounds good in alder?

Hey man I'm going to try to use the Krylon Fusion Clear on this guitar. I just took one of the cans out to test it out. Does this stuff usually shoot out like a horse taking a piss man or did I get a lousy can?

It shot out in like a stream instead of a mist???

Since you're supposed to mist the first few coats, I'm a little worried here...

Re: Need help with colors for this swirled stat

LMAO that's exactly what it was like...It surprised me so much I almost dropped the test board.

I bought 6 cans of the stuff so I'll test another one out. I'll take them back if the next on does the same.

Is it normally a mist like any other clear?
