need help to ID a guitar

A local guy is selling an Ibanez guitar, I haven't seen it before and am wondering if anyone can ID it. He says it's an early 80's jap made guitar. It has a flame paint job on it, black base with orange red flames. The neck looks like a wizard from the pics, it has a floating trem, 2 single coils and a humbucker. The pictures are real bad, but he is going to get me some more. he is looking for around $300. any idea what model it could be? thanks

Re: need help to ID a guitar

We'd really need pics for this call, sorry. It's not the original finish though if it's actually a Japanese guitar from the early 80's.

Re: need help to ID a guitar

Well, it sure doesn't look like an "authentic" Ibby neck. It's also not a real Ibby body, although the builder got kind of close. Look at the placement of the controls. The Vol knob is a little too high up towards the bridge pup, and the selector switch notch is a little high up. Not a 560 body. Hard to tell from the pics, but if the pups are decent, and if that trem is an OFR--might we worth close to the $300. I'd see if you can get him down around 225-250, if you really have to have it.

Re: need help to ID a guitar

Looks like an old 80s neck from the bolt on destroyers or what have you to me. they had that logo position on them. The body is not an original Ibanez to be sure. As Alaskabat said, it's value depends a ot on what the various bits really are!

Re: need help to ID a guitar

It is a Destroyer neck for sure, don't let anyone here tell you different. Anyone who knows the x series destroyers knows what they look like. The body? not sure. Jackson does make a graphic finish flame exactly like that, but can't tell for sure from the pics.
