Need help identifying RG

F0106215 that is the serial number on back of headstock

It looks like a Black rg550. It had a orginal edge tremelo rosewood fret board pick guard. The thing is it was in great shape so it seemed to good to be true. He also said price was 350, and he didn't know what kind if guitar it was.

Re: Need help identifying RG

Serial numbers unfortunately don't allow identification of the guitar.

Photos would of course help

Re: Need help identifying RG

if its an rg550, it will have a 5 peice neck. If its a 570, it will have a super wizard neck with the bubinga stripe down the middle.

If it has an edge trem, its probably one of those two

Only the 20th anniversary version of the 550 has that neck, there were lots of different necks used over the years, including the bubinga stripe style..

Yep--if it's a 550 or 570, it should have the bubinga stripe Super Wizard neck.

Doesn't help--we already know it's an MIJ model from 2001. You have over 10 posts now, so upload some pics to Photobucket, copy the IMG codes and paste them in here so we can see it.

Re: Need help identifying RG

Do you remember seeing a bubinga stripe on the back of the neck? It certainly fits the description of a 2001 RG-550.

There is no strip on the back of the neck, and the nobs are just like the one off a rg550, but this thing is such great shape im weary. The guy would sell it for 300, but I didnt want to spend that kind of money and not know what i was gonna get. Im gonna go back to the shop monday and take pictures on my iphone.

Re: Need help identifying RG

this was the best pics I could find of an '01 550, but this one is an EX (mirror pickguard, power cosmo hardware, lo-pro.....) The only thing to really be weary of is that it's not an RG350........but they all had bound necks with sharkstooth inlays.

pics of the actual guitar would be great!!!!
