Need help on a trade!!! Please...

Hey guys, so I have a Peavey Wolfgang special with D-Tuna, it is the orange Korean sunburst version. It is in about 90% condition, so it is a pretty clean axe.

There is a guy that wants to trade me for a 1985 Proline V 1660 "pink" in about I`d say by looks "online pics" to be about 70 ish % condition, like no gouges or anything, just dirty maybe. What do they generally go for, rough to good condition???

I am interested in the Proline but not sure on the value and if it`s worth the trade???

Thank you very much!!!

Re: Need help on a trade!!! Please...

If was me I would do the trade, but I'm very biased to Prolines as I have a 1770, both 1880s and the super rare 2660
Granted you will see the 1660 more often than the 2660, but to me the original case makes deal as you do see the case offered that often...
and let me tell you something, you will LOVE the stock pickups in that thing....
The edges of the "V" look pretty dang good from what I can see and those are the spots that usually get the most damage...
As far as value, your wolfgang is worth a little more(now), but you would be getting a much more rare guitar that, in my opinion, will increase in value...
Porlines are diamonds in the rough, you wont be sorry....

One thing to remember though is the bridge. It's an old guitar, and finding parts for those old Ibanez bridges are near impossible. If something breaks your screwed. There are no direct replacement bridges for them either. It'll take extensive work to fit a different one to the guitar.

Re: Need help on a trade!!! Please...

A couple years back I bought a 1660 for about $180 from a store and sold it a couple months later for just about the same amount, the guy tried to rake me through the coals too.

I think the trem is called Rocket Roll or something stupid like that. Like LonePhantom said, you will NOT find parts for that bridge. So if it's rusted up, you're crap out of luck. Even if it's in good condition, the trem isn't that great.

Re: Need help on a trade!!! Please...

It does have an odd bridge... I read somewhere that the pickups are ceramic, that is cool because I like the IBZ USA F2`s in my 89 RG750. Would the neck be ultra fast maybe comparable to the 750?? I understand that the Woldie might be worth more but the proline would look good in my collection... I am really on the fence about the whole trade, undecided.

Thanks for the info!

Yeah I would also pass on this one. The prorocker tremolo is pretty bad. If you want a proline then buy a model with edge tremolo.
