Need some advice

I'm looking at a 2000 rg250 with a lo-trs. Guitar is made in japan. Should I stay away? How can you tell the difference between the lo-trs and the lo-trs ii?
Thanks in advance

Re: Need some advice

A lo trs ii will have the II stamped on it. As far as staying away, they aren't particularly pricey and aren't the best out there, but if your on a limited budget it might be ok. What is your budget and what is goal in a guitar?

Re: Need some advice

It's was just a potential trade. I want to try a guitar with a floating trem. I just bought a prestige 1451 and love it, so I figured the next step in my ibanez addiction would be a floater. I also have a line on a 98 rg570. I'm really thinking it's the better guitar to buy

Re: Need some advice

570 no question. If you like the prestige your expectations will far exceed what the 250 can offer you.

Well I picked up the 570 😆. No time to run it thru it's paces but tomorrow I'm gonna give her a good workout!

Re: Need some advice

It's a 98 rg 570 in juniper green. Really in great shape for the year. Frets need a slight polish but nothing serious. Just a bit of tarnish. Trem seems to work really well. Seems very smooth. My only experience is with fender 6 and 2 point so this is like butter! Body has a couple small chips along the edge. All in all a great buy I think. Pickups need some serious adjustment tho... anyone have a good starting point for the v7 and v8 pickups?

Re: Need some advice

then i'd suggest replacement with pickups you know you like...i have various rg's with v1/v2, gravity storms and even a duncan custom in 1 of them...really depends on your tone preference...d.m.

V7/V8 pickups? Magnet swap or complete replacement are your only options with those garbage pickups.

Re: Need some advice

I was looking at trying the magnet swap. Seems like a simple thing to try before pulling them out

Check lonephantoms site for the magnet swap info. I recall lower output magnets like Alnico 5 sounded the best to my ears since the pups are wound so hot.

If you dont like them after the swap, what kind of sound are you going for? If you can explain that, maybe some of us can offer ideas for replacement pups
