Talking Need some help with this one!!

I am hoping some of you guys can help me figure out what this guitar is.

Here is what I do know.

1 Serial Number is F0136951 and has the standard Japanese hardware, Edge trem and such

2 I am about 95% sure the paint is original

3 The neck pocket on the neck says ARG570, but the neck pocket on the body is unreadable.

4 It says USA Custom on the headstock, but I am fairly sure that's a redo.

5 the pickups have been switched to I think, Ibanez never came with a Bill Lawrence.

Thats what I have, please let me know what you guys think, or what you know. I ended my ebay auction to figure this stuff out. I can't sell it if I don't know what it is.

Frankenstein! Definitely NOT an original USA Custom.

Re: Need some help with this one!!

It's some sort of refinished guitar. Not sure what the ARG is all about, but it looks like it started life as a '01 RG570, based on the serial number, rosewood dot neck, Edge and powder cosmo hardware.

My guess is that someone took an RG570, filled the middle pickup route, painted the whole works and had that USA Custom decal made, perhaps based on a scan of one. I'd call it a customized '01 RG570.

I would have thought it to be a 2001 RG520 that's been nicely "personalized"

Re: Need some help with this one!!

Someone on ebay messaged me and said it started life as a very rare guitar of some sort. Anyone ever seen this kind of paint job on an Ibanez before?

Re: Need some help with this one!!

Is this the guitar that was on GC's website at a store in Florida? I can't imagine there was more than one with this paintjob floating around. They listed it as USA Custom, and I always had my doubts that it was legit.

Based on the fact that it has an F serial number, it's definitely not a USA Custom. Considering the year it was made, the H/H pickup config and the super wizard neck my initial reaction would be to say it's a refinished RG520.

Something about the trem route doesn't look right to me. The way the edges of the route are rolled, and the depth/evenness of the pocket route makes it look like there's been some work done to it. Is it just the texture of the finish giving that effect in the second photo?

My vote is for a refinished RG520.
