Need some J Custom Help please

Dear dudes,

I found a few J customs for sale. THe one I want is the JCRG-5 vintage Violin ltd.

THe guy is looking for $1999.00 but that seems like too much to me.But it is in like new condition.

Can you guys straighten me out on where this J Custom is in the stream of Time and what it is worth new or in mint shape? I checked Ibanez and the Jemsite archives and couldn't find it or what it should sell for.

It is a mahogony body with wierd looking maple top.Kind of burled/figured but not quilted or flamed. Maple/Bubinga neck, bound neck and body and vine inlays on the rosewood (or Ebony) fretboard. Cheapo V7 and V8 pups and gold hardware(trem, nut, locking pads, volume and tone) It had a H-S-H pup configuration and looks alot like the the J custom 8670 that you can see in this linkhttp://www.ibanez.co.jp/japan/frame_japan.html

Any and all help is greatly appreciated. :P

Here is a German store that has the exact guitar on a webpage for sale. Click on the link to see it.
They are calling it a J Custom RG-5

To my knowledge the pickups on the JCRG5VV are ToneZone (bridge), Blue Velvet (middle) and an AirNorton (neck).

They had this guitar at a guitarshop near to where I live, and I fell in love with it instantly. But now it's all gone, guess I'll never see her again.

To find out what it's worth second hand you'll have to wait until the experts get here.

I think 1999.- dollars is quite overpriced! You can find equal guitars for half the price (used and new). And check out if the pickups are really just a V7 and a V8. JCs mostly come with DiMarzios and the JCRG5, as already mentioned, is supposed to have the TZ and the AN!

Personally, I dont like the pattern of the maple tops on the JCRG5. I found everyone I saw ugly, but this is just my opinion.

I would look for a RG3120. Most of them have very nice maple tops and a good pickup combination. They are "just" Prestige models, but I think they are great guitars. And, used they sell for about 600 dollars!
And as far as I remember, there was also a RG3120 in Vintage Violin, but Im not sure about that...

If I remember correctly that guitar was 1700 euros, and it was supposed to be in mint condition.

The top isn't glamorous on the RG5 but I kind of like it for that reason. I do agree that the rg3120 is a better deal and still a very nice guitar. The only thing I don't like about the 3120 is the thinness of the neck.

The RG5 isn't much thicker but there is a small difference. It's good to know that it came with the dimarzios because the one I saw had the V7 and V8. So seems there was a swap or something.

if any of you guys have links to old pdf files of the ibanez catalog this guitar used to be in, it would be awesome.THanks for your help!

Funny...the only thing I DON'T like about he 3120 (and i'm talking about the neck-thru one) is the chunkiness of the neck...I wonder if we're talking about the same thing.

Almost. I'm talking about the bolt on RG 3120. I owned the RGT 3120 for a while and that does have a substantial neck.
