New 2006 Maple Fretboard Ibanez RG350!!

Check this out!
http://www.ibanez.com/guitars/guitar...l=RG350MDX&z=y

Think about that one in white, blue, or pink. Sometimes black sucks.

It's a Wizard II. I wouldn't buy it, it does look a bit cheap but Ibanez may be on the right track. Thank Jackson for that, actually. This guitar is a direct competitor to their DK2 which was released earler this year.

They should put the same fretboard on a Prestige RG2550 and add binding, then I'd buy one.

wow, that fretboard look scheap and nasty, like the sharktooth is painted on and will rub off after a few good vibratos on that area !

I just don't care for the sharktooth at all. Just give me plain ol dots.

Painted? No way!!? Those are inlaid, surely?

Offset ones are nice. In fact I like no markers at all. Maybe one on the octave.

It looks like really half-arsed studio picture, as if someone took it in their garage and Ibanez just cut around it and stuck it on the page. It should look proper airbrushed like all other official pictures!

Well the specs do list "sharkstooth inlay", so either Ibanez are lying or those really are inlaid. I think they are inlaid, no way are they painted.

I can't believe people are actually questionning if it's paint or inlay...

Has Ibanez ever had painted on inlays? Despite how crappy they look, or cheap they look, they will always be inlaid into the fretboard. Ibanez would NEVER paint sharkteeth on a fretboard. Come on guys...

Yeah, only reason I questioned it was because WIS said it like he had some kind of proof. Got me reading the specs, at least. After I read his post again, I understand it now, he just worded it strangely.

Ibanez have been doing color matched inlays for years. If anything the dk2 is a ripoff of an older Ibanez design.

Re: New 2006 Maple Fretboard Ibanez RG350!!

It's nice to see a maple fingerboard, but the black sharksteeth look cheap. Especially without fingerboard and headstock binding. Even if they would have went with black, or color matched dots, it's still a $399 Korean built guitar. I just can't get excited over it. It's semi-RG550, quasi-RG550, margerine of RG550, the Diet Coke of RG550. Half the quality, not RG550 enough. --Jason

man you guys are whiny . It is an rg350dx , it is a 350 . it isn't going to be prestige line quality by no means. It is ceratinly a set in the right direction for more maple fret boards , just be happy for that .

Which design would that be? I wasn't aware that, before 1986, Ibanez had used anything but dots, blocks, or vines. I know Jackson has been using the sharkfin inlay since at least the 1983 Randy Rhoads model, so I give credit to Jackson before Ibanez on the actual shark inlay itself.

First Ibanez guitar I saw with matching colour inlay was a JEM. I'm interested to know if Jackson did colour matched inlays before that.

You stated that the new ibanez was a ripoff of the dk-2. I merely stated that ibanez had used color matching inlays previous to that. The frank gambale model is one and their were some rg's but im too lazy to go through all the catalogs to link. Their were sharkfin inlays on The rhoads guitars previous to 83 but they werent in production yet.
