New Build Thread--something LOONEY!

Most of you may remember some of the concepts I threw out a month ago along with the purple floral. The RG-565/560 hybrid came down to 3 designs and I finally decided on the one I liked best. All of the parts have arrived: orange knobs and tip arrived from Rich, custom logo from Best-Decals.com, body from a fellow Jemsiter, neck from eBay, Evolution I already had in the parts box, and a Tone Expander circuit from guitarheads.net to replace the tone pot. I've also been writing the new DIY Guitar Finishing E-Book while doing this project--it will be available once the project is done. So, here's what's going on so far:

The original concept art that started it:

Artec EXP Active Guitar Tone Expander Unit from guitarheads.net:
http://guitarheads.net/products/electronics/exp.html

Knobs & witch tip from Rich and the custom logo from Best-Decals:

I can never say enough good things about Best-Decals or Rich!

RG-565 body all scuffed and ready for filler putty:

Headstock after basecoat--the color is metallic black and has a nice sparkle to it:

Headstock with decal and clearcoat:

...so, for now---th..th..thh..thh..that's all folks!

Notice the concept picture? No neck pup. I don't use Bondo or epoxy--I'll be using a spare chunk of leftover mahogany cut to size....
This thing is going to be a beast!

No, but Ryc and I debated at great length about doing a Duck Dodgers Daffy Green Lantern design--it will be the next Looney guitar

Re: New Build Thread--something LOONEY!

I do like the picture positioning on the green version - it just looks a little more balanced.

Looking good.

Re: New Build Thread--something LOONEY!

By the way, where did you come by an RG565 body? Those guitars don't usually get broken up and they tend to be one of the more expensive RG's out there.
