Doesn't Dave Weiner's latest LACS have this type of setup as well?

Hmmm. You mean you're actually thinking that you should contemplate keeping a guitar you didn't order that has serious flaws?

Hmmm. I hope you never go to the used car lot to buy a car.

Crap quality control,maybe drunk quality control.
This is how all Carvins come by default, as they all come with Sperzel locking tuners. You have to request a locking nut to get one. If you order the locking nut and it doesn't come with, then yeah, they screwed up the order. If you don't order the locking nut, you won't get one and it won't be a mistake on their part. You don't order it, you don't get it, simple as that.

It's not a 'Floyd rip off', it's a high quality licensed Floyd. They work fine.

Re: New DC727 - w/pics!

Pay attention, dudes!!!

Carvin guitars with Floyd Rose may or may not come with locking nut!!!

Go to the custom guitar page and check it out: locking nut is an optional.
However, all Carvins are loaded with Sperzel locking tuners!!!

One thing I do not like on Carvin's 7-strings is the licensed FR.
That is unacceptable!!!

Not OFR = Rip off.

Sure, I've played some real nice ones before, but this one looks like the toy version of a OFR-7

[irony_mode=ON]
So... Edge is a rip-off?
[irony_mode=OFF]

But this looks really crappy and toyish!!!
I'd swap it for a OFR immediately!

That's the problem with going on looks alone. I haven't had an issue with mine in the nearly 2 years I've had it.

You should lay off the caffeine immediately
An OFR would screw up your scring spacing, which is why Carvin doesn't use them on their 7 strings but does use them on their 6's.

Is it that different, jim777?
What are the string spacings on that particular LFR?

I like it Heffergm. Hopefully things work out for you either way.

Bloody hell. If I could close this thread I would, because you're all on way too much caffeine.

Go take some valium.

I'll play...

An OFR puts the strings a little closer together, but I don't have the exact dimensions handy. Most of the folks I know who've put OFRs on their 7x7s have removed them eventually. Kmanick is a semi regular here who did that. For 99% of musicians there's no upseide to putting an OFR on a 7 string Carvin. As I said, I use my trem and it works fine, sustains well, and is bright and clear.

If Carvin makes a mistake with the wood working, I would definitely send it back. But they don't (in my opinion) use crappy parts. I've owned 5 Carvins, and they've all been great though they haven't all been perfect for me. My 727 is perfect though. And this orange burst one is gorgeous!

Eh. What can you do... there aren't any windows in that room (only a sliding glass door), and it's overcast and raining out.
