New Fireman on last PG album...

I just saw the cover of Paul Gilbert's new album, Fuzz Universe, and saw the new Fireman there... It looks so sweet...wouldn't It be amazing if It was for sale with that combination of colours? (And affordable this time...)

Any love on Firemans?

I like it better than the original. White and black would look cool. Or maybe an off-white

That does look sweet. The Fireman is my current Holy Grail guitar.

I find it funny that everyone is going gaga over this guitar. How many of you shred heads who like ultra thin necks would get ahold of that baseball neck (which I like) and go OMFGWTF and like it only because PG made it.

WOW! Those are close to Gibson LP dimensions if I'm not mistaken!

Re: New Fireman on last PG album...

Dude, I just got "Silence..." like a few days ago, I so can't wait for a new Gilbert album!

I know he used the Fireman on a few tracks so I bet anything called "Fuzz Universe" is gonna be epic. Single coils + fuzz = boss. Plus my PGM sounds pretty sweet with any pedal i've tossed at it since it has that tele vibe spank with the volume knob rolled off. And yes, the Fireman has a very fat neck. If you can shred, you can shred on anything. I can shred all the same on a paul all the same, as long as the action is nice and low.

Re: New Fireman on last PG album...

In fact, I love both necks, ultra-thin ones like Ibanez does that feels very comfortable for shredding (or at least trying) and fat baseball necks that I love the most for playing in Hendrix-style with all his hammer-ons and pull offs around, that ones feel very comfortable too as It fits my whole hand. I love both but I don't like the sizes in between the most of the times...

The album is out next 30th June in Japan BTW, I have already reserved a copy!

Re: New Fireman on last PG album...

I love the look of the Fireman! I was so disappointed when the price was announced. (I haven't predicted Ibanez prices well-- when the RG20th was in pre-release, full specualtion mode, I thought it would be more expensive than it was. So I own an anniversary RG550 but not a Fireman.)

The thick neck/thick neck joint don't bother me. I have a Les Paul and an RG. Both sound great, just different.

If Ibanez put out a MIJ Fireman with decent specs, at a price point close to the PGM401 (~$2000-2200), it would instantly become my next target, must-save-money-to-buy guitar.

Peace

Mike

can I borrow your crystal ball? Must have one if you know what everyone likes already...

Paul Gilbert is quite honestly really none of my concern where that guitar is the subject. I just think it's a neat axe and would sound cool and be fun to play.
