New Guitar Day. Wohoo. :D

Hello everyone.. Here's the NGD thread I promised..

The guitar is 2550EX, in galaxy black (I think?). Pretty cool guitar, it's '04.
Anyway, on to the pics.

This has to be one of the most easy playing guitar's I've ever played, even though it's not set up correctly yet. Action is quite high and the strings are .09, which I find very very thin. The neck in this thing is SUPER thin, like holy cow..

Thanks.. It's MINT. The previous owner told me that it has been on it's skb-case over a year now with absolutely no play at all..

Re: New Guitar Day. Wohoo. :D

Nope.. I had 2570 earlier, but it had 1mm thicker neck than this one. And I thought it was pretty thin

Any ideas where I could get a custom pickguard? I have tried paradise pickguards (holy hell they cost much!) and still searching for companies that make custom pickguards.. Might want to get a H-H or H-S-S pickguard for this someday.

Congrats on your NGD!!! that guitar looks mint and the 2550 RG are sooper sexy looking guitars....I have a 2550z with the same galaxy black finish as yours - I really dig the galaxy black finish - a black guitar that doesn't show any fingerprints - too cool!!!

Sweet guitar, man. Congrats!

Check out my RG1421F NGD thread. I put on an HH pickguard from Jeannie Pickguards (on the Bay) on my RG2550Z. Though I've not bought one from them, I've heard Pickguard Paradise is better quality, so I think you get what you pay for.

Is it me, or does that scoop on the right side look EXTRA deep O.o Maybe its the camera angle.

Either way, awesome pick up! And THATS what a true, one piece neck looks like!

Actually, it's a three piece neck. It looks quite a bit different than the newer five piece necks This one even has some flame figuring, but it doesn't show in the pics as it's so subtle. I think the scoop is as deep as every other rg's are. Except for the 30 fret monster! Thanks for the compliments guys. And thanks for the jeannie pickguards tip!

I had the squint REAL hard to see it haha. They use opposite (yet subtle) grains? Thatd make sense to me.

Re: New Guitar Day. Wohoo. :D

yep, opposite grains grant very strong and stable necks. Multipiece (lamination) constructions are used almost everywhere when wooden structures are required, as one piece woods, especially long ones such as necks, are prone to twisting and warping when exposed to different temperatures and humidities. I hope this makes any sense, cause english isn't my first language and I'm not too good on carpentry vocabulary in english.
