New guitar what should I get

I recently bought a used Jem7V 2012 model and it's the cursed year that was released with a serious overtone issue. Beautiful guitar but sounds like **** past 1/2 scale so it's going back.

With that said I'm eyeing one of two guitars. Either a brand new or older used Jem7V or a JCRG20136.

What's your thoughts ? I loved the feel of the Jem and I'm sure the j custom will be equal or better in comparison.

Get the J-Custom. That is by no means a knock against the JEM....great guitars, but I prefer the J-Custom. Mainly because of the pup combo, and the mahogany/flamed maple top. Sounds amazing and pretty much stays in tune even when I leave it alone for weeks.

Re: New guitar what should I get

I was in a music store and tried the new Ibanez RG655, and to be honest I would swap my minty 2006 jem for it. To me the best recent Ibanez effort as far as catching the feel of the late 80's early 90's models.. guitars that their re-issue series fall flat badly, if you ask me.. (24 fret S series.. c'mon!)

http://www.ibanez.co.jp/products/u_e...151&color=CL01

Here's the link to the Ibanez site to check it out.. price was like $1200 and to me it kills jem70v for similar price point.. it plays like a jem, a little less fancy,..impressed the hell outta me!!

Re: New guitar what should I get

Yea I love the white jems there's no doubt about it. However I'm disgusted with it to be honest. I'm looking at an 08 and it's mint but than you need a stu mod. I know it's an easy fix but to me when your buying a high end guitar it should need nothing but a good setup. Besides that one is $2400 taxes in and I can get a brand new j custom for $3800 to the door. Better specs minus the monkey grip which I do like.

Simple, If you can afford a JC there's no reason to think about anything else.

The JC's are in a class of their own as far as Ibanez is concerned. If your truly overloaded with cash........ go for a sugi JC.

Re: New guitar what should I get

If I was overloaded I define you would however I am not. I just ordered the JCRG20136-RBS for $3800 Canadian. These guitars are hard to find here and if I had to order outside te country if have to add another 1k the cost for duty fees. All in all I think I got a great deal. Can't wait to get this and play it.

That's great to know. What dealer did you order your J-Custom from in Canada?

Re: New guitar what should I get

WHATS THE DEAL WITH 2012 jems, cursed with overtone issues? STUD MODDS? PLEASE explain. I lust a high end Ibanez, wanted a Jem or Js for ages now (cant afford it!) That new rg655 has sold me, big frets/edge/dimarzio, cheaper (just) than jem/js. Hope its real popular so Ibanez is forced to introduce more edge loaded rg models in various finishes! SO, WHAT HAPPENED IN 2012 WITH CURSED JEMS??? I NEVER HEARD THIS BEFORE??

I'm curious to know as well because I don't think there is a Canadian dealer that carries J-Customs
