Question New/used Ibanez S540...pics...

I recently picked up a S540ML (i'm lefty) or so we think it is. Have been trying to track some info on it. I've been in contact with Jerry at ibanezregister and he and i are alittle stumped. The closest i see is a S570 with diffrent neck and non-direct mount pickups.

S540ML 93-95'
Mahogony Body
Wizard Neck - Rosewoood w/ natural headstock
Abolone inlays - oval
Cream binding
V1 neck PU
S3 mid
V2 bridge (all are direct mounted)
Edge Bridge
Custom label (st00pid Ibanez)

Neck pocket shows S540ML with a penned line through it, and S370 written in. Ibanez says it shouldnt have a penned anything. JUst looking for some more info. Possibly the neck was replaced. The natural maple headstock is the big throw off. Can we post pics?

Re: New Ibanez...

Hi there, maybe not a huge help, but the model you described was already discussed a while ago:

http://www.jemsite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36040

Natural finish, plain headstock, direct mount pickups. The pics are long gone. However, there still isn't much info about that model.

rg,
Yeah, i fell in love with it when i saw it on evilbay. This is my first Ibanez, friend of mine has a 540LTD aka Skolnick, Vampires Kiss (says its a rare one) and a couple of others. My next one will be another S, do they still make the S540's anymore? If not can i get the custom shop to make on?

HNY,

Re: New Ibanez...

Aw man, that is like my dream guitar right there!
I have a S470L which I love, but seeing that natural finish is making me drool.
I don't think they still make lefty S series, but the S370L and S470L show up on the *bay sometimes.

Re: New Ibanez...

I too have a sweet spot for natural finish guitars, particulary mahogany and alder (surprisingly). Very nice guitar, those S-series' are badass, i love the body contour.

Thx bro, yeah the mahogany blew me away when i saw it. So hard to find good lefty guitars like this. It's so fun to play.
