New Ibanez guitars

I know (or think I know) that you guys like nice guitars as much as I do so I thought I post some photos of my new, and long awaited, Ibanez FR.
So much could be said about it, since it really is a one of kind monster with loads of "custom" to it, but I let photos do the talking. It is built by the Japan custom shop (the best of the two Ibanez CS in my humble opinion). The building goal, beside sound good and look good, was weight to help my broken shoulder out a bit. All goals was reached.

Here together with its FR friends.

A very happy Magnus!

Re: New Ibanez guitars

Holy bajesus, you have a LOT of FRs.

You're lucky there in Sweden you can get all the cool FRs. The only one Japan is offering as a prestige is the all black one. They have a sunburst one but it's indo-made i think.

I also noticed you have the 30 fret shred monster

Thanks!
Yeas, I really like the model, a lot.
But I still have a lot more RGs :-)

You can't get most of them here in Sweden either, same here for stock ones, a black prestige and tow other colors for the cheap ones. You could get the J-Custom (to the left upper row) before, but not anymore (but it was only for sale in Japan).
All the ones with trem are custom, same for the 3 singlecoil one.
The rest are just pickup (and neck on the white) changed production ones.

Great, great guitars.

Yeah, that 30 fret are cool. But I took the white pickguard away to make it look a bit less like a clown.
Cool to get those extra notes, but even more, the extra access to the frets around the 24th.

Re: New Ibanez guitars

Great collection. I love the new gotoh lite weight tuners. I was checking them out for a new paulownia telecaster that I'm building.

Nice to see pics from you again, Magnus!

I hope things are good. Let me know when I can pick up the Turbot!

Thanks.

Those tuners seem to work good. Not sure how they will handle being on the road, but I think they will be fine. They have worked perfect so far, but have not Ben on stage more than 5 times (and that is where things break).

How are the bodies like? Are they bulky and hard to play like Telecasters? I strum and pick the open area between the neck and middle single coil and when I tried to play a Telecaster today I had the hardest time trying to play it correctly. I was wondering how the FRs were in comparison to tellies.

Also, how is the Indo-made FR420?

Re: New Ibanez guitars

That is the sexiest thing I've seen in a while. Congrats on a beautiful new instrument. I love the FR shape but somehow still haven't managed to pick on up.

I doubt you will let go of any of your special builds. I have never tried a Turbot, but as you say, they look cool.

Re: New Ibanez guitars

That guitar became really awesome, I saw the other pictures you showed in another forum how it was chambered, it must be really lightweight.

Beautiful with a maple fretboard and black headstock with that finish.

Now tell Ibanez that they should release it as an production model so the rest of us can feel what you feel now

The body are like a RG with a rounded upper horn.
When standing up does this give a bit different feel to the guitar, how it is hanging in the strap, but it is a very, very small difference.
They feel almost exactly like an RG to play in every way.
Same necks as RG, same type of arm and belly cut etc.
Not at all similar to normal Tele.

I really like the 320s and 420s, especially the first since I really like mahogany wood.
You can feel the difference between the neck on a 1620/2620 and a 320/420, but it is not a huge difference. Maybe the low number ones would have problem handling being on the road less good, but I don't know.

Massive thank you.
It is growing look wise on me everyday.

Deciding the color was a tuff one, finding something that looks cool over long time are hard.
