New Japanese Prestige models - RG2680M and S2620FM

Just spotted these two models on the Ibanez Japan site.

One for you maple lovers...RG2680M, just like the RG2680 but with a maple board, and the S2620, a new Prestige S with flame top, bound neck, two PAF Pros, and cosmo white hardware.

Both look pretty sweet!

Coooool.... for those oif you who didn't know this, try this- take the address up above, and select and delete everything past the "electric guitars" designation- it'll bring you to a ftp directory for the ibanez japanese site, complete with a few completed pages from the upcoming website. nice!

RG2680M DBK

I received mine last week from Ishibashi. I believe I got the last one in the DBK color (until its re-released under another name!). Anyway, I really got into the maple neck/fretboard combination a few months ago after I purchased an Eric Clapton Strat. I love the brightness. The RG2680 is now my favorite of all the Ibanez's that I have (RG PR1 is a close second). It generates a great array of tones. The Dimarzio Blue Velvet single coil is a great pickup. I get some great Satch-style clean tones from it. It also has a nice thick neck (my personal favorite) and one beautiful maple top finish. You have to see one in person to really see how tasty the maple top is on this one. I was hoping to purchase the blue one as well, but they are all gone at this time.

Those are all Killer axes!

However I would like to see (much) more Ebony instead of Rosewood on high end Ibbies, it just does them more right IMO

What do you guys think?

RG2680M

I have an Ibanez that has an ebony fretboard. It adds maybe a hair more crispness to some of the notes and the harmonics are a hair sharper. Its a questionable call. I wanted an ebony fretboard on at least one of my Ibanez's to have a different tone. If anything, the neck has a great appearance with the deep wood tone from ebony. If you want to spend the extra cash, be my guest. However, you may or may not get the results you want. Try one first.
