New KxK Double Cut 7 Design

This is a prototype for a neck through double cut design from KxK. This one is flamed black limba with a ziricote board, I think the next one is going to be mahogany with a flame maple top. A set neck version is planned as well

Do KxK need a technomancer to announce their works ?

Natural wood finishings to me always looked like my mom kitchen's floor, I don't like them.
Besides that I love floyd roses and even if I didn't use them still they look awesome so any guitar has to have it.
The only thing I like is headstock.

When you examine the contours and body shape, not even close to PRS. Anyone who actually owns and plays PRS would never claim that to be even close to a knock off...headstock or body. The completed version of this is for sale on their site. Nice guitar and I love how these guys emphasize good wood with just clear finishes.

Exactly... it's a non-pointy double cut design. PRS is not the only company with a double cut model. However this is currently the only seven string model I'm aware of that won't set you back $10k+ for a doubly cut lol

As for finish and bridge, KxK is a custom shop so you can change the finish and bridge on an order, this is just a prototype.

Re: New KxK Double Cut 7 Design

Still looks like a PRS to me. Granted I've not played one in a while but if my first thought is PRS, I'd wager so is the first thought of a lot of guitarists...

Not saying I don't like it, I really do. But I do think it looks just like a "djent" version of a PRS.

Looks nothing like a PRS!

I like it, except for the finger board. I've never liked multi coloured fingerboards, it just looks to me like they were using up the wood they had left.

Similarities, definately, but I wouldn't mistake it for a PRS.

Re: New KxK Double Cut 7 Design

Yes I see the similarity, it's a double cut lol The top carve is quite a bit different from a PRS. The differences in carve show a bit better in these pictures of my six string version because it's gloss and the pics are in bright sunlight

Oh and it's not $10k+ for 7 strings, so that would be a HUGE difference as well lol

Re: New KxK Double Cut 7 Design

your purple 6 string looks a lot less like a PRS. I think it's the width of the 7 string hardware routes that make it look more chubby and PRS like. The 6 looks a lot more sleek. I still see a resemblance, but less so from 6 string KxK to 6 string PRS.

It's the exact same design, I believe the seven string is just slightly larger to keep everything proportional. I think part of it is that the way the horns are carved doesn't show up as well on the seven string as on my six because of light reflections off of the gloss.
