Re: New Loomis 7

That's one sweet looking guitar.

I'm looking at one myself, any chance of a review?

Rock on!

Re: New Loomis 7

ok here is a mini review

CONSTRUCTION/SCALE: Set-Neck w/ Ultra Access / 26.5
BODY: Ash
NECK/FINGERBOARD: Maple / Maple
FRETS: 24 Jumbo
INLAYS: Metal Cross
PICKUPS: Active EMG 707
ELECTRONICS: Vol/3-way switch
BRIDGE: Original Floyd Rose 7-string Tremolo
BINDING: Black (neck/headstock)
TUNERS: Grover
HARDWARE: Black Chrome
COLOR: Vamprye Red Satin (VRS)

The set neck feels really nice but it is not as smooth as an Ibanez AANJ, its chunkier directly in between a AANJ and square bolt on heel
The body is ash and the tone is bright and has a nice bite, its much heavier weightwise compared to my basswood RG 7s
Fingerboard is maple which has nice smooth feel, inlays are cool looking
24 frets on this guitar and because its 26.5 inch scale you can definitely feel that you need to stretch more
The EMGs are quite nice even though I am not into EMGs the neck is awesome, smooth and clear but the bridge is kinda too trebly but is perfect for the low B
OFR7 stays in tune no probs at all but because of the extended scale you can feel it needs more tension
The colour is so cool as its red but in different lighting it can look almost black
The things I had to adapt to was the extended scale, the extra tension on th OFR and if you like to switch pickups often its not postitioned at the most convenient place

Oh lastly you dont get a hard case and I travel overseas a lot so that sux was a bitch to fork up for a case that just fits the guitar tight

If you guys got any questions just ask

Do u know what are the neck dimensions?
I heard that is a lot chunkier than a jem/rg/esp/parker style necks, is that true?

Schecter necks in general are much thicker than the above brands listed

This is slightly less chunky than a normal schecter and normal schecters are described as baseball bats

If you have ever played a Schecter hellraiser think of that but slightly skinnier but only slightly

These necks are much much beefier than my Ibanez guitar hard to say exactly as they dont list the dimensions on the site

Its actually fairly simple, go to your local Sporting goods store and find a Louisville Slugger baseball bat, and bam! theirs your Schecter Dimensions.

Hahahahahahahaha!

Just take a caliper guage and take the measurements yourself. Just look at were Ibanez take their measurements, and just measure in the same spot, and KABLAMO! You have a set of measurements for the neck.

Re: New Loomis 7

I'm thinking of getting the hardtail. I can deal with the fatter necks and longer scale. I've just about waited all I'm going to for Ibanez to do an arched hardtail 7.
