I think I'm gonna go harass the guy with the Giger again. That was a simpler argument... (in my best Triumph voice: I keed, I keed!)
There's another 770DXVM on that site where they sell a lot of stuff--the highest bid was around $650.00 and it didn't sell. Watch out for it--it looked to be in mint condition as well.

The only one I'm missing is the Ruby Red, which I'm now on the prowl for...

I think the reason we'd want them to be popular is to send a message to Ibanez, "No more black guitars please".
Seriously though if they did well maybe they'd bring back the 550 as a regular production model or at least maybe they'd bring back more neon colors, or any colors . It's not that we want "the popular guitar", it's supply/demand. If we show the demand for 550's or just guitars with colors other than black, flat black, matte black, galaxy black, gloss black, jet black, metallic black (my God, how many ways do they do black?) , just maybe they'll supply us with more choices in colors. If they don't prove "popular enough" we may be stuck with blacks, greys, and dark blues forever. We might as well stand in one spot and stare at our feet, boring. Still I feel it's way too early to make any assumptions on the populartiy of the neon colors since they really haven't officially been released (April) and most people still aren't aware of there existance.

Re: New neon RGs - they're not popular enough

I think they'll be popular once they start appearing in guitar magazines, and are hanging on the wall of guitar shops.

This forum represents a very specialist segment of the guitar buying public. There is no way I would have known about them myself yet had I not been a member of this forum. There was no way that all 1,987 were going to sell out on the pre sale alone.

Re: New neon RGs - they're not popular enough

Exactly. The price is the main factor, and the fact that so many people still don't know about them is another. All I can say is consider the popularity of the RG550 in general -- it was surely one of the most popular Ibanez guitars of all time? I know they're probably outsold 10 to 1 by lower-end RG's such as the 350, GIO, etc., but the RG550 is a classic in ANY colour. I just find it funny how unpopular the black ones are. (Sorry Rich!).

sure, the 570 was a mean axe too - for those who liked a little rear-route electrics action and a rosewood fingerboard...
they also came in cool (though more conservative) colours...

and about the black ones - I reckon they are simply eclipsed by their siblings - and the fact that peeps ask for FAR too much money for them...

I have guitars that cost me more than my Black RG 20th and I'm betting the RG will be a much nicer guitar.

Re: New neon RGs - they're not popular enough

A bit late in here, but my 2c!

I'd love to have a RG20th, BUT there's no way I'm paying £850 for it. Mind you, I tend not to buy brand new guitars as I loathe to pay the full asking price, even if I was to import it from the USA. I'd rather pay the £300 to £400 going price for a used RG550DY.

Re: New neon RGs - they're not popular enough

It's true I look at the £850 asking price and I see either a new RG20th or a good used Jem7v (or 2 used RG550's), so no contest for me.

Tbh, giving the prices in the UK for guitars, the RG20th is probably priced correctly for a new guitar. So I can understand why people are willing to pay the money.

Ibanez used the 20th ANNIVERSARY hype to substantiate the price. And they knew they could get it (they're not dummies ) You're getting one arent you

As far a popluarity, sheesh.....they just came out or arent even available yet Give them some time in the stores and magazines

And many people don't need to know about them because of the limited number. Ibanez targeted YOU GUYS on this one and I'm guessin they will do pretty well with it other than the black. (Only reasoning I can see behind that is they were trying to include the Heavy Metal players that like RG's, but are too manly to play a neon

NEONS RULE!!!! (And so does playing a Floral in a biker bar

Re: New neon RGs - they're not popular enough

I play metal, and I'd happily play my neon pink Kramer at a gig...well if I was in a band!! Even as a metal head that BK just doesn't interest me one bit, I'd rather have the yellow or red any day.

I wonder if Ibanez understand that they f***ed up by making the black one.
