New Petrucci

Got this one the other day. It's friggin awesome. Partially chambered alder body, mahogany tone block, maple top, mahogany neck, ebony board, CL/LF set and piezo. It plays and sounds awesome. With the chambered body the piezo sounds amazing and the CL/LF sounds amazing. The lead tone is probably the best I have played. I love it.

When it's described as "partly chambered" is that another way of saying "most of the body is routed away to make room for extra elctronics" ?

Re: New Petrucci

Gas attacks are rising
that guitar is flying
right before my eyes--
gotta get that prize.

I love DT and I love JP
all their playing
beats the tar out of me.

What a great guitar
I'd totally sell my car
to get a piece of that
if I even had a car
but I don't, now I'm scarred
with the memory of the best, no doubt,
but Imma just have to go without.

Your welcome and have fun playing

They really changed up a lot of stuff on these for the 10th anniversary guitar. The entire body is different. It's a little bigger in the rear section and the horns are thinner and perfectly symmetrical. I love the old JP's for their character, but they are a bit... well goofy looking. I think this guitar looks like pure sex. Then you take the chambered body, black hardware, ebony board, extra jumbo frets, 5 way blade switch, etc. and this guitar really is totally different than the past JP's. The only thing I wasn't crazy about at first was the blade switch, but after playing it and seeing all the tonal possibilities I am a convert. This thing really is unreal.

Re: New Petrucci

Absolutely stunning! I love the sound of the JP6s but always hated the body shape. The JPX-6 looks sooooo much better. I'm seriously gassing for one with a roasted neck.
