I swore I'd stop buying cheap guitars, but the 421 looks like it could be a lot of fun...a hardtail RG, and available in a color! *

I post nicely in "comments to Ibanez" and a few weeks later I get what I was after...

Maybe I should post about say... a Jono signature model?!?!?

Cool! Ibanez read my mind I'm currently looking for an Ibanez guitar with a fixed bridge. *I really want a PGM800 or a PGM90. *But the 421 is definitely something I would consider. *I'll just change the stock pickups..... then I should be good *to go.

I hope the price is right

Kevan said the list price was $629.99 in another thread.

i'm really glad they brought these out. i just picked up a made-in-japan 1992 470s-tr with tune-o-matic bridge(gibraltar II) and have been wanting more. i really wanted an rg guitar with the same specs as this new rg421 and out of nowhere it is given to us. i would and just may buy two of these before i buy any other ibanez. next a rg3121 in trans green or trans black. but i guess we have to see how this sells first.

my only question is what kind of output jack does this have? a football shaped type or the kind on my '97 rg550?

A Roland Ready RG would definitely be a good deal. Too bad it has a :shoot: TRSII installed instead of having them on the fixed bridge model.
Now if Ibanez decides to release a 5xx series with either a LoPro/fixed bridge with/without Synth options, I'd definitely get one.

I'm very pleased Ibanez is moving in this direction. It seems they're willing to give it a try and see what happens. I would be a hell of a lot happier if this was a 621, made in Japan (as I suspect this 421 is Korean), with the super wizard neck instead of the wizard II. And I assume it has the AANJ.

But if this sells well, and I think it will, then Im sure we'll see many more fixed bridge RG's in the future. (How about a Prestige mahogany 6-string RG with fixed piezo and flame top...Oooo...)

edit: My RG7-421 was japanese and so wasnt the 7-420, so maybe this 421 is too. But those RG7's may have been exceptions because looking at the RG line everything from 470 down is Korean.

yeah, it most likely has an AANJ. and weren't the rg7421's made in japan? also older 4xx guitars were made in japan, maybe ibanez is moving 4xx production back to japan? nah, but that would be great wouldn't it? at least on these fixed bridge rg's.

a prestige/fixed bridge/piezo 6-string? you mean a sort of RG3121x. i'm all for it. with or without the piezo.

Too bad also that the RG Roland GK2-ready uses....the Roland GK2 system

Those magnetic MIDI pickups are not very good. They don't handle the dynamics of play at all.
I wish they used the RMC line of piezo/midi pickups those things look awesome. They replace the saddles. And Rich @ RMC told me they are working on new piezo/MIDI saddles for Floyd Rose's. That would have been marvelous MIDI pickup.

Nicolas.

I really can't wait to get my hands on that MIDI thing! I've never had a chance to hear/play one. Great news!!!

you're right, the RMC system would definatly be the way to go...
however, the GK2A system does work well with the VG88 (it doesn't convert to MIDI).

but this is definatly cool, because Roland/Boss showed a few new effects pedals that use the GK cable at NAMM...so now you can get the GK and not dive into $1000 gear just to use it...check out Roland's website for more detail

The Roland ready RG has the Lo-TRS, not the TRS 2.

Both guitars do have the AANJ.

Glen I think you answered your own question in another thread (one of those TRS vs Edge threads if I'm not mistaken) Notice that these guitars are in the 4xx series. That separates them from the higher end 5xx's.
