NGD - '06 RGT320QRBB

Look what UPS dropped off today!

This thing is virtually mint. There is some extremely small scratch on the backside of the guitar. The seller told me where it is, but I had to look for it. The guy said that he played it one time since buying it from Rich four years ago. I have been wanting one of these since I saw the catalog shots years ago and not only did I finally get one, I think I got the actual one from the catalog.

The seller said that this is the 2006 NAMM show guitar and based on the pictures, I'm pretty sure he's right (I compared a bunch of specific areas in the quilt top to the pictures). I also found a number of official Ibanez pictures online that seem to match this guitar.

One strange about this guitar is that there is that it is not cut like a standard RG. I figured that the neck-thru would be the only difference, but it isn't. The top is very flat compared to an RG and the contour of the rear cutaway is much more exaggerated, extending completely through the upper horn.

Last but not least, the obligatory group couch shot!

For more pics of the new axe, I found some more in Rich's gallery:

If he hadn't closed the auction I would have been bidding on it that second round.

Congrats, that thing is absolutely beautiful.

How does the larger cutaway effect playability?

Rock on!

Well I'm glad that I convinced him to close the auction! If you wanted this guitar, I'll take that as a serious endorsement.

Yeah I've really been wanting another quilted maple guitar ever since I sold my USRG30, but this one really blows that guitar out of the water.

If you're talking about the larger cutaway on the back of the guitar, it seems like the guitar sits much closer to your body than other RG's do. As far as the thru neck, not as much as I thought. I don't play much in the extreme upper range of the neck, but I feel like my thumb starts to but up against the upper cutaway way before my hand encounters the heel.

Re: NGD - '06 RGT320QRBB

Thanks for the comments, guys. Now I need to work on adding a few "vintage" ones to the collection. Unfortunately, the other ones I'm really dying to own, a GMC Jem and an RBM2NT are ungodly expensive!

But hey, the 20th anniversary of both those guitars is in the next two years. Better start saving my pennies!

Re: NGD - '06 RGT320QRBB

I was seriously going to buy that exact guitar from Rich at Ibanezrules back in 2008 while I was in Iraq. I really really regret not doing so. Congrats.
