NGD!!!!

....Almost, yes, I ordered an rg321mh and a few other things (stand, polish, picks, cable) as I have not played guitar in over a year and have sold/lost everything I had (except my old blue strap). So I see a big brown truck pull up today and go down stairs to get my guitar stand...It just sits there mocking me that I don't actually have a guitar. check UPS website and it should be here tomorrow.

Re: NGD!!!!

Sorry guys, I still need to get pics of it. That being said. I was never really blown away with how it played, something just felt strange, almost forced and I had played some Ibanez and they were always silky smooth to play. Well I was changing strings yesterday and since I had all of the strings off I decided to do some snooping and took the pups out and just look around as I like to tinker with things. I took the neck pup out first and it look like what I can only assume was the neck shim was only half way under the neck. So I took the neck off and put it back on with the shim under both holes furthest in to the body, the two even ones. Then I put it back together and set checked the set up again. And found what I was missing, This thing is amazing to play now.

I also turned the neck pup around so in position 4 it's now the inside coil of the neck pickup and the out side coil of the bridge pickup and it sounds a lot better. More of a strat position 4 sound.

I also took my supplied allen wrench and leveled all the pole pieces because just random ones were sticking up higher than the rest and that seemed to help the sound also.

also noticed the color on the bridge where I always put my hand is already wearing off and turning a nice shiny chrome.

Re: NGD!!!!

the pole pieces that are adjusted with an allen wrench are adjusted to even out the string to string volume.

glad you are liking it now! steve vai is a proponent of the theory that the neck and body should be tonally equal or there is a disconnect in the tone. I am assuming he is talking about how some luthiers will tap the wood to assess the tonal quality of the piece before making it into a neck or body....
