NGD

G and L Will Ray signature ASAT, I've been looking into getting another tele and really wanted an ASAT, I was looking for a Bluesboy, but the price on this was too good and I was kind of interested in something with a B-Bender.

Swamp Ash body, B Bender, custom over wound bridge pickup, locking tuners, push/pull volume pot that when used with the selector gives you all 3 pickups and neck & bridge. Some cool case candy too, a couple of slide rings and some instructional DVDs

Now I need to sell my Marshall Jubilee to pay for it

Re: NGD

wow, that is s deadly looking Tele! I've never tried a B-string bender but would love to - you'll have to learn a new batch of licks on the B-bender ;o) Nice that it came with locking tuners - I have locking tuners on both my Strats - makes a big difference ihmo.

Killer guitar - congrats cid!!!

Re: NGD

I'm just gonna say it - that's DIRTY. Dirty in a good way though. You're gonna have to smoke a cigar or something while playing that.

Neck is a little fatter than I like, but it isnt unplayable by any means. Sounds great, but I'd like to put it against a real Tele just to see, but it's safe to say it lives in Tele-town.

List is $2700, sells for around $2025 online, Im assuming this was hanging on the wall in a shop too long and they just wanted it gone. I got it off ebay for $1400 plus free shipping, so Im willing to bet that I paid cost and shipping.

In the next day or 2 I'm going to put some time in with the instructional videos. It came with one for the B-bender and one for the slide rings, both taught by Will Ray. Im imagining there's more technique to the B-bender than just randomly bending the open string up a step.

Re: NGD

Put some real time in with this thing and I have to say, those Z coils are the quietest single coils I've ever heard. They are true single coils, there is no dummy magnet or anything like Fender's noiseless pickups, but even on the highest gain channel on my 6100 there is no hum or buzz or anything.

Re: NGD

Cool guitar - I've got one in orange sparkle, I'll try to find a pic.

I find the Z coils bright, but great sounding. There are 2 coils, each under 3 strings, reverse wound. So in a sense, it is a humbucker, but because each coil is under a smaller length of string it really sounds like a single coil. Leo worked on a similar design with Fender in the 60's, but really nailed it at G&L.

The bender is cool, but I never really got the hang of it...any tips would be appreciated!! I put big bends nut sauce in the tube that goes through the asddle, and that keeps it in tune...

Re: NGD

My hat is off to you, elcid. You are completely incapable of making an NGD post that doesn't make me envious. You have great taste in guitars.
