NGD 1978 Ibanez Musician MC300DS

Picked up this Ibanez Musician MC300DS today. Made in the Terada plant in 1978. Think she has an ash top with mahogany body, 5 piece laminate maple/walnut neck thru, rosewood board, super 88 tri sound pickups, gibraltar bridge, brass sustain block. Very solidly built guitar, plays and sounds pretty cool!!

Re: NGD 1978 Ibanez Musician MC300DS

Very Cool! I had a MC500 a few years back. Very cool guitar.

Only complaint I had with mine was that I lived near an interstate highway and when I had it plugged in playing (Alesis Quadraverb GT into Fender Princeton Chorus 2x10 Solid State)...I picked up CB Radio transmission....imagine a BIG OLE 10-4 coming out of your amp! Probably the Quadraverb GT.

Thanks Jim!! Much appreciated for sure!!!

[email protected] Thanks dude, you had an MC500, cool, higher end guitar again. Great story as well. Kinda like the problems Nigel Tufnell experienced getting Air Traffic Control through his wireless/pups when playing that gig at the American Air Base, lol!! Can I ask what became of your MC500 mate???

Pretty much pegged it on the Spinal Tap reference! Although a very cool guitar, I wound up selling it as I was searching for my type of instrument back then and rather than completely destroy it by modifying the electronics, I sold it. I was still trying to figure out "what I wanted in a guitar" then. Today though, I'd love to have it back.

very nice guitar! looks to be in very good shape for a 32 year old guitar! i've seen 2 year old guitars in worse condition than that, at least some people know how to look after them

Re: NGD 1978 Ibanez Musician MC300DS

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for it? I've got one just like it and would be interested to know roughly what it's worth, not that I have any intention of selling mine.
I just dug mine out after far too many years of not playing, and took it to a local luthier to get it fettled, it needed a good setup and the coil tap switches replacing, and he was very envious of it and said it was a lovely thing.
I bought it new in 78 I think, as a replacement for a Fender Strat, which I didn't get on with, I think that was the amp I had at the time in retrospect.
I'm finding it hard to find anything modern of anything like the same quality!

If memory serves me correct I paid £575 for it. A 1979 MC300DS also recently sold on the bayuk for £570. Of course value depends on condition. I saw a mint (and I mean mint) one go for around £900 a few weeks ago as well( also a 1978 model). Hope this helps.

Thanks for that, that's the sort of price range I thought. They are a bargain given the quality. I can't ever forsee selling mine, if I did I know o would regret it.

Re: NGD 1978 Ibanez Musician MC300DS

I love old Musician guitars. Harkens back to a more ancient times before eleventy stringed guitars and carbon fiber space age bodies and before everything at Ibanez was painted black for the most part. LOL.
