NGD - 1986 ProLine PL2550

So I don't tend to post my NGDs very often, but I've been wanting one of these since drooling over them in magazines in 1986. This has a few dings and scratches, its missing the truss rod cover, has the wrong pads on the locking nut, but it is a MACHINE. Also apparently a rare version that came with IBZUSA pickups instead of the covered ProLines pickups normally seen on the PL models, although the bridge was replaced with a Duncan. My buddy Frank Falbo took pictures of a rare flyer he has showing the IBZUSA pickups on this model.

Anyway, it's just a quick pic, but it is a quite a beauty.

Congrats on the NGD! I've had several PL1770s and they are some solid guitars, I've always been interested in the 2550s

Re: NGD - 1986 ProLine PL2550

The buttons do all work despite the swap to the Duncan!

It's such a great guitar, I've had a few different 1770s as well and always likes them, but I've always wanted one of these neck through ones, and man it's just a fanastic guitar, very comfortable to play. Like I said, I remember seeing ads for them way back when they came out, and I've seen a few over that time, but I finally got to own this one and it does not disappoint.

And I guess, as I look at this scanned flyer, this is actually a PLZ2550, not a PL2550, since it appears to have come with the IBZUSAs stock.

Ohh yeaa. I need one of these to add to the stable, one day... Yours looks great, the silver hasn't turned a snot green colour! I've seen a few over the years which came stock with the IBZ USA pickups. I think the left-over ones with 1987 serial numbers in particular had them.

I have a gold 1770 which I love; it has Seymours all the way and the button switches all work. I replaced the crap VLX with a DiMarzio 5 way though.
