NGD 1987 early 540S
Landed this nice Saber recently. The color isn't ever quite right in the photos but the neon day glow are closest. The tight spread of the controls is great. The three toggle switches got the Dan Armstrong Super Strat mod. That mod works great if you have a Tone control for each pickup so I replaced the pots with concentric stacked pots that give me one pot for volume and three for the tone controls. I've got a Duncan Triple-Shot pickup ring for the bridge humbucker coming in the mail.

SWEET! Those really early guitars are way under appreciated. Love the color and she looks to be in really primo shape.

My stuff arrives in the mail tomorrow so tonight I need to prep it up. My first go at the wiring got screwed up somewhere and the guitar buzzed like nothing I'd heard before. And that's with three humbuckers! So I took all the parts out/off and am going to paint the cavities with shielding paint (in the mail tomorrow) for starters. Tonight I'll get the basics of wiring the switches up and the pots. After the paint dries I'll just drop it all in. The bridge pup has that great old cloth tape that has turned red/yellow with age so I'm not too keen on peeling it off to get to the wires so I can make the pup 4 conductor as required by the Triple-Shot. It's already three conductor so I'm just going to fish out the coil-split wire, separate it, and add a new wire to the newly exposed coil wire. That wire I'll run under the tape and out of the bottom of the pup. It won't look good on close examination but will work. Looking forward to a nice DY weekend.

Mods are all done so I changed the image above that shows the controls.
This is the first SD Triple-Shot I've used. It is very cool. Really low profile and easy moving slide switches. It should win an award for innovative guitar stuff.

I had the same model in Caribbean Blue. It was practically flawless like yours. I'm really regretting selling it now!!! I landed it this time last year for $185 with case from a local pawn shop
