NGD: 1988 540 Radius Jewel Blue (H-S-H)

Excited about finally adding a 540 Radius to my collection and thought I'd share...

I recently scored this 1988 Radius in classic Jewel Blue color. Love the color on this one -- the Jewel Blue really radiates (pardon the pun) when you see it in person.

Interesting to note with regard to this guitar is the H-S-H configuration. In researching online, have only come across a few with this pickup combination. (Anyone else have a Radius with this configuration?)

Guitar is in excellent condition. Spent a little time cleaning it up yesterday -- just needs a set-up and some additional TLC and she'll be ready. The slightly thicker neck will take a little getting used to, as it definitely has a different feel than my RG550s and Sabers.

Re: NGD: 1988 540 Radius Jewel Blue (H-S-H)

Congrats! Nice score. I suspect that Ultra neck has been transplanted from another 540R. The 540R came in three different configurations -- SSH with ultra neck like yours, HH with ultra neck and HSH (known as the 540RLTD model) which came with a wizard neck and shark tooth inlays.

The other possibility is that this was sold overseas. I have seen a HSH with a dotted board before (i presume an ultra neck), but the ones i've seen have a matching headstock. I believe they sold them in japan this way for some period of time. If you guitar had a matching headstock i would say that's what it is, but with a black headstock i'm not sure.

Anyway, beautiful guitar. Here are a few of mine for reference....

For added reference: Earlier this year, I sold my R540-LTD Jewel Blue that was HSH with an Ultra neck. S/N was F042057 So, a late '90 neck on a '91 LTD, assembled at the Case Avenue, H&S shop.

UALRL-T neck heel stamp: Ultra Angled Locking Rosewood Large [fret] - [shark] tooth [inlays]
