NGD: 1990 WRB-3 CA

Shortly after finding the 540PII GP I posted recently I managed to find another pretty rare one that I picked up. Here it is...a 1990 WRB-3 Candy Apple Red...

Very interesting guitar. Maybe I saw it on pictures before, but never in detail. I like volume knob placement and shape of back plate and with those pickups it must sound great.
Who signed it?

Reb Beach...This was his signature model made in very limited quantities. I believe this was his first design prior the the RBM's. I do like the volume knob placement, but also the placement of the middle pickup. The first thing i always do when getting a new guitar with a middle pickup is to lower it because it gets in the way of my picking. I didn't notice this until picking up this guitar, but if you look you'll see the middle pickup is moved back slightly towards the bridge pickup so it doesn't get in the way. Very good move by Mr. Beach

Re: NGD: 1990 WRB-3 CA

Those WRB models were only released in Japan and I think only 100 or so were made, which is why Reb numbered each one. They are SUPER rare, and to find one outside Japan (let alone INSIDE) is a minor miracle.

I read on Reb's website that there were 100 of the graphic finish ones. It's strange they don't even mention the CA red ones at all. I wonder if the 100 made include the red, or if there were 100 of the graphic specifically and 100 of the CA (or some other unknown number which I'm assuming was very limited) .

Well I thought it was this particular shape was limited to 100, not just the graphic ones.

I saw it on ebay too, but I'd finally sold the one I picked out of Japan so wasn't ready to dive in again.

IMO I doubt they ever made 100 total WRB's all together. It's not scientific using availability as the deciding factor, but you know how few of these are ever seen. I've seen more Rainforests and there are only 14 of those.

Yeah, I've seen like 3 or 4 ever listed here in Japan, but it was always the natural finish RBMs, not the WRB. I think I've seen ONE pop up (same rate as the RGR580DW and RGR580PW that I currently own, and those were mass produced).

Yeah, same with the VM1...25 of WH and 25 SH and i've seen those pop up more frequently than the WRB3
