NGD: 1992 Rg560!

hi guys,
My name is Anthony, im 23, and Australian.
been playing on and off for 10yrs + and after a 3 year break, i have gotten serious about my playing and spent the last year developing my chops to a advanced level.

recently accquired this '92 RG560, with original wizard/edge and the old school block heel. i did a fair bit of research before i got it.

I love the thing, its my first ibanez -as i normally play a jackson - but i think i have converted. the neck is amazingly comfortable for my hands. I am really happy with it. lovin the s/s/h configuration

i just dont have any friends who play guitar, or know what this is, so i thought id share it with u guys

the previous owner had green knobs/tip on, but i put on the original black knobs he sent with it - just gotta find a black pickup selector tip.

im also thinkin about replacing the pickups.
anyone put EMG's in? how do they sound?
ive only ever played SD jazz/jb combo

I play shred/tech stuff but also incorporate alot of clean stuff :
(Jason Becker/Paul Gilbert/Al Di Meola/ Mahavishnu Orchestra/Dillinger Escape Plan/The Mars Volta/)

any other 560 owners out there? post pics if you want, would love to see them.

look forward to contributing to the forum,
Anth

Re: NGD: 1992 Rg560!

hey man, welcome to the club and jimsite! as you probably have guessed by now, I'm a hugh fan of RG560s...for some reason, I can't get the photos to this particular thread, but there is a (family portrait) of my guitars if you click on the gallery section at the top of the page..I own three 560s, 2-1987s and an 1989. the other two in the pic is an 87-550 and a 90-570. I didn't realize that they put lo pro's on them in 92...So..you sound like me in 1988, playing my Kramer Pacer religiously until I got in a band and needed a backup guitar..lol..so go the store, and my 87 RG560 was there waiting...the guy let me have it for I think, 350 with case. the moment I played it I was like...what Kramer? I still have it, the one with the green knobs in the pic, with many more dings and such, and it plays like a dream, still....the pickup thing is a personal prefrence...I think I might be the only one on here that wants my pickups to be original...on my 550(bought on the bay) someone replaced the bridge pickup with a super distortion...for me it made it sound muddy..I got on here and found someone wanting to sell the originals out of an 89 570, so I did that. (secret)..ssssshhh...my 560s can blow my 550 out of the water, but don't say it too loud..lol, there are a LOT of 550 fans on here.

Re: NGD: 1992 Rg560!

thanks for your reply mate

i have only had it for a day, but im in love with it.
glad to see theres someone else who likes the 560, i get the impression the s/s/h makes it less popular, but i like having a single coil neck - sounds smooth for runs/sweeps

the '92 catalogue says that the 560 comes with a lo-pro - i quite like it, really comfortable.

the stock pickups arent terrible or anything, i just want to buy new pickups

Re: NGD: 1992 Rg560!

yeah, the maple fretboard RG560s are rare...only seen a few, including one right now on the bay...the guy claims it was owned by Stanley Jordan...lol, but that seems unlikely..my guess is they where special order only...the catalogs only offer rosewood..

that's because they make some of them with rosewood boards...were the ones you saw black? the neck on that 560 is stock..same color headstock..

Thanks for checking them out, gagz..all of them are stock..that's what I look for(except I leave the knobs however they come, don't ask me why)..if the neck and body have been seperated, forget it..I'm even anal about serial# stickers on the headstocks..they must be there this way I'm sure it's gonna be like my first one..same feel, SLIGHT difference in sound..take care of it and it will last a life time
