NGD 1st 7 seven string

Hi fellow Jemsiters, i've just got my 1st seven string guitar and its an RG1527, i put out for sale my S2170 FW and a guy offer me to trade it for his 1527, the guitar is in players condition with a few dings and dents but no neck cracks or anything serious as far as i know, and seeing as my 2170 is MIC and this one is MIJ i thought it was good deal.

Here are some pics:

Anyway like i said this is my first 7 string guitar, at first just by looking at the fretboard i thought that it would be awkward to play, but after playing it for a few minutes it felt just like home, i'm not the kind of player that looks at measurements and specs to choose a guitar, so i can't tell you what it is that i like about this neck other than it just feels great to my hands.

Sound wise the PUs are ok, they're not horrible but not great, i think i'm gonna keep them for a few weeks but i'm definitely gonna change them, i'm thinking a pair of PAF 7s in white would look and sound great on the guitar, but i'm open to suggestions.

I like these everytime I pick one up, but I've never pulled the trigger on one.

Re: NGD 1st 7 seven string

I own 2 RG1527RB's and they are by far my favorite 7-string... and I also own an RG2027x and 8527vv J-Custom. Don't get me wrong, I love those two to death, but I find myself always reaching for one of my 1527RB's more than any other Ibanez. The necks on these older models are fantastically thin. I just love 'em to death.

You've chosen wisely

Re: NGD 1st 7 seven string

So i decided for a Blaze neck and bridge in white, and i also changed the knobs, i think it looks really cool like this, i'm really diggin the Blazes, the neck is smooth with plenty of harmonics and the bridge sounds very tight for riffing and lead, both have plenty of output but they are able to maintain character, anyway here are some pics:

Oh man, sorry I never saw your original question. I've never used the Blaze pups (but have always been curious). I basically use the same combo in all my guitars: CrunchLab 7 (bridge) and Ionizer 7 (neck).

I used to use the Liquifire in the neck position, but I wanted something just a touch brighter.

You did good, and I like the matching knobs.
