NGD: 2005 RG20051

Just got this in the mail today. Super excited to finally own an authentic Ibanez swirl guitar.

It came with the original swirled pickups, but the previous owner put in a TZ/Blue Velvet/Air Norton set from a J-Custom. I'm thinking about doing a zebra setup with a Steve's Special, Breed and an Air Norton.

Here's some group shots with the other members of the family. Quote the patriotic lineup I now have!

Normally not a fan of black and white swirls, but that is nice and clean! I like it!

Re: NGD: 2005 RG20051

The previous owner changed the pickups. He gave me the originals, they just aren't in the guitar currently. I do agree that they look really cool, but they're just the stock pickups from the RG1570, so I'm sure these are an improvement.

Thanks. The blue one is actually a JC. It's an RG8520, but you're right, they're extremely similar guitars. The neck is a bit different on the JC, and it has a flamed maple headstock, but besides that the differences are very subtle. I'm thinking about selling the 3120 soon and eventually replacing it with something more unique. Unfortunately what I'd like to replace it with is REALLY expensive

That Black and White swirl is one of my all time fave RGs.. that one and the Desert Yellows are at the top of my list of Ibbys that I missed the boat on. Thanks for posting the pics!

Re: NGD: 2005 RG20051

Just realized that this guitar passed through Rich's hands at some point. It's the one marked #2 on his page

http://www.ibanezrules.com/new/rg20051.htm

I just took a look and sure enough, it does have the locking stud mod. That also solves the mystery of how the fretwork is so damn nice on this guitar! Makes you really appreciate Rich's work when you see it in person and have a chance to play it.
