NGD 4 of 6, old school RG goodness

What else needs to be said; it's a block heel, black RG550 with maple board. I do love me some maple boards. Another solid workhorse that'll probably be strung up for standard E for noodling round. It has some body wear but the neck is dead clean and feels excellent. All in all, not bad for a 91 model.

Wow sweet! Happy NGD!

I have a 1990 RG560 that is just as clean (outside of the pick scratches) as that. Awesome guitar

It's got some body wear but the important stuff like hardware and neck are spotless. A nice change for a 25 year old guitar.

Man, I thought I'd commented here too.......

There's something very special about a simple RG550. It's basic good looks coupled with all the finest electronics and hardware Ibanez could get packaged into an affordable workhorse that the everyday gigging musician can count on.............There's a reason it's one of the most sought after Ibanez guitars ever. Your's is no exception.

FWIW, I put a black smoked mirror pickguard on my 550BK. It gave it a very nice look without being "too much".

They're useable. The old V1/V2 pickups were basically Ibanez take on the Super Distortion. Useable for sure, but not my personal taste. However I do have a vintage Super Distortion in a Tele I use for some stuff.

congrats man!!! I have the same model but yours looks to be in better condition than mine - in fact that one looks to be in quite nice shape considering those guitars are close to a quarter century old. like Ryc I changed the pickguard on mine. I also changed the pups on mine. Those are really are great guitars - enjoy!!! =)
