NGD: 7 String Strat project

Just picked this up, and have big plans:

I played one of these a while ago and was really impressed with the neck.

I plan to completely overhaul this one:

New pick ups: 7 string Seymour's.
Graph Tech nut and string trees
Locking tuners
all new electrics
new logo
etc

I'll live with the bridge for now, though I am contemplating a gotoh 7 string vintage trem.

I love the sound of a strat, but the problem is I really prefer 7 string guitars so this should do nicely once I'm finished.

Thoughts?

I like these.. I almost bought one some time ago. Is the body bigger than normal stratocasters? It seems like the proportions are the same as normal strats, atleast to me.

It would be killer to get custom wound antiquity pickups, and a coil tap for the bridge. Gold hardware would be sweet too.

And if your taking the label off it would be awesome to finish the headstock w/ matching black paint w/ a gold logo.

The body is exactly the same size as a regular strat.

The neck is great! The profile is thicker than my UV7PWH, but not too much, and maintains that strat feel though with a flatter radius. The frets are medium size, and on this one, very well done.

I'll be going with SD SSL-1s middle and neck, with an SSL-5 in the bridge eventually. Initially I'll be putting a BKP humbucker in while I wait for the new pick guard and pick ups. I'll keep both pick guards wired up for a quick swap, depending on the gig.

I'm not so keen on gold with black, so I'm sticking with chrome. I want this to look like a completely standard strat at first glance.

Oh, maybe I'm going blind after looking all these great looking guitars around here..

Teaser,
headstock done:

Locking tuners, graphtech string trees and nut, plus a cheeky new logo!

I've spent today leveling the frets - they were awful but now it plays like a dream.

Logo looks great! How many winds do you have on the low b? Looks like its curved a bit to me for some reason but probably just my eyes.

Optical illusion because of the angle.
