NGD: '90 UCGR "Surprise"

Actually picked this one up a while ago along with my Leather & Metal from TAorama when he was selling off his USA Customs. This one had a few chips and scratches that I originally intended to try and repair. I got into working on the scratches and stupidly began to wetsand with water rather than mineral spirits. Bad move. I swelled up some of the wood around the screw holes, but thankfully didn't cause too much damage. Had to let the body sit for a while to dry back out and shrink back down. Finally got around to putting it back together this week.

Overall the guitar is great. There were some electronic gremlins that I traced to a bad YM-50 switch. Replaced that with my favorite VLX53 and problem was solved. Fretboard was pretty dry but overall I don't think that the guitar had a great deal of play time. Other than the "765" style, this 760 style with the reverse headstock is my favorite. Enjoy!

Re: NGD: '90 UCGR "Surprise"

Thanks, Ryc! And thanks for noticing the hardware LOL! It's probably somewhat of a hodgepodge of various hardware I had. The pickup ring and strap buttons are new and I'm always looking out for really minty cosmo Edges. That's one I got from eBay (the one I got from Damien went on my JEM7PBK). But really this guitar was in great shape and didn't need a lot of work. At least not a lot that wasn't caused by my meddling LOL!

Very nice. What a shine on that beauty! The reverse headstock really adds to the eye appeal.

Thanks! I use the Stew Mac polishing compounds on every guitar I own followed by Martin guitar polish.
