NGD: Agile Septor Elite 827

So I actually got this axe for Christmas, but haven't been able to make a thread here yet. I got the tribal purple 8-string. Mahogany body, top, and neck, with an ebony fretboard, 27" scale, no inlays, which I really like. So far it plays wonderfully, although the lower strings are a little loose so I'm going to put on new, thicker ones to get better tension from it.

The Duncan Blackouts are nice, although I did have to do a lot of tone shaping to get it right, since my Ibanez uses passives.

I'm not a particularly good photographer, so my apologies for the poor centering and everything.

Beautiful ax dude!

And is it just the pic (of the headstock) or are you using seriously thick strings? You should be (for F# I'd probably use a .85 or .90), but I'm just wondering because most dont use any bigger then a .74. What gauge are you using?

It's just my poor camera work. Right now the 8th string is a 74, so I'll be bringing that up to an 80. My friend uses a nearly identical model, and so I've been talking to him a lot about it.

Use an 80 indeed, I now use an 80 on my Ibanez, and it feels really great. It feel like a normal guitar, but it sounds like a bass. Animals As Leaders style.

i use an 80 for the lowest and 65 for the b string. I usually just tune to an e on the lowest string. I just buy a pack of Ernie Ball 2834 Super Slinky Round Wound Bass Strings and use the the 80 65 and 45 then a set of Ernie Ball 2223 Nickel Super Slinky Pink Guitar Strings.

on occasion i will buy the same gauge rotosound strings because they come with an extra 9 gauge in the electric set

Sounds like it costs you about an extra $20 every time you string the thing. Just get a 6 string pack and 2 singles (not sure if EM sells single on their site or not though. I know D'Addario does)
