My Jem will always be my number one guitar, but, I've been lucky enough to get examples of all the classics, so I have a 355 (Epiphone) Flying V, Strat, Tele (both Mexican) and Les Paul (Tokai), and I can really see why the designs last for 50 years or more.
Yes I can get stratty tones from my Jem, but the Strat just seems more authentic. Same with the Les Paul.
The Baja is particularly good I think, the switching gives you the addition of both pickups in series and both pickups out of phase (series and parallel). These are really good options on top of decent sounding bridge and neck pickups.
