NGD Carvin

So I finally ordered a carvin. I have always wanted to get a custom and was able to try out a bunch when I visited San Diego in May.

Since all my guitars have trems I went with a TOM and piezo (always wanted to try one). It has a lot of knobs and I don't yet know which one changes the channel on the TV but it sounds cool. Not yet digging the carvin pickups so might swap them out.

The black body binding is not a normal option but they were willing to do it.

Classy axe! I've never liked their p'ups either, but they make great guitars, especially for the $

Beautiful guitar! But then I'm a sucker for white guitars... I like the inlays too...very classy looking. Carvin is great value for amps and guitars. Congrats!!!

Re: NGD Carvin

Thanks. About 3 months. They had to redo the body so it took a little longer than normal.

Re: NGD Carvin

Ordered a Duncan Distortion to throw in it. Guitar plays really well and the Piezo is pretty good sounding.

Yeah they are a bit goofy at that with smaller routings on some models/options. This one should drop in according to the measurements I took but Dimarzios look to be harder to install. Apparently if I ordered a carvin with covered pickups then they would have a slightly larger route. And if you use pickup rings you may have to get new rings.

Hope to install next week. Will let you know if it goes smoothly.

3 months is not that bad, I should be able to order and get it before X-Mas then.

I dropped in a Duncan Distortion. Took a little dremeling to remove a little metal from the pickup tabs but otherwise it fit ok. Unfortunately, the DD sounds exactly like the stock pickup so not sure i will keep it in.

The guitar is actually on the way to carvin right now. I went to lower the action and noticed the bridge was on top of the route. It is supposed to be recessed into the route. I am not sure why the route is not correct but hopefully they can fix it.
